Cambodian Senate President Expresses Regret over Thai PM’s Decision to Renew Hostilities

Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Hun Sen has expressed regret over Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s decision regarding the renewed armed attacks carried out by Thai forces against Cambodia.

“I never thought that Thai Prime Minister Anutin would make such a decision. Merely for future votes, he would dare to endanger the lives of soldiers and civilians by declaring war on Cambodia, even when the Cambodian armed forces did not retaliate,” he wrote on his official social media platforms this afternoon.

Samdech Techo added that Prime Minister Anutin had once been a friend before assuming office, but “when he became Prime Minister, he forgot his friendship.” He continued, “We understand patriotism, but one should not declare war on those who do not fight back.”

At the same time, the Senate President also shared a 16-second video showing the Thai Prime Minister in close contact with H.E. Ms. Ban Srey Mom, Governor of Cambodia’s Pailin province.
