Defence Ministry Condemns Thailand’s Indiscriminate Attacks on Civilians Residential Areas

Thai military forces today launched attacks using 105mm and 155mm artillery shells, indiscriminately and brutally targeting civilian residential areas in Pursat province, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The attack occurred 9 at 12:33 p.m. in Thmar Da commune, Veal Veng district, the Ministry stated.

“The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia condemns in the strongest possible terms these inhumane and brutal acts by the Thai side. Such actions constitute a grave breach of the Ceasefire Agreement and the Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand, signed on Oct. 26, 2025, under the witness of U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as ASEAN Chair,” the press release emphasised.

Since Dec. 7, the Thai military has conducted repeated attacks on Cambodian territory in Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, and Pursat provinces, involving heavy weapons, F-16 fighter jets, and toxic gas. These attacks have reportedly caused civilian casualties, damaged homes, temples, and health centers, forced the closure of hundreds of schools, and displaced thousands of civilians along the border.
