Thai military forces continued their attacks on Cambodian civilian areas and civilian infrastructure on Dec. 22, 2025 in Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province.
At 10:50 a.m., Thai forces opened fire on civilian buildings and residential homes in Kbal Koh village, O’Chrov district, Poipet city, firing approximately 30 rounds of small-arms fire into areas where civilians were living, according to a press release of the Ministry of National Defence.
The incident was described as an indiscriminate and aggressive attack by Thai forces, constituting a serious violation of international humanitarian law, the report said.
As of the time of reporting, the situation has returned to relative calm. However, Cambodian forces remain on high alert and continue to closely monitor developments along the border. They are maintaining a firm, vigilant, and resolute posture while carrying out their duties to defend Cambodia’s territorial integrity and national dignity with determination and courage, the press release added.
