Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has urged Cambodia and Laos to continue strengthening and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, particularly economic development, as well as political relations, in line with the long-standing friendly ties between the two countries.
The remarks were conveyed by H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, following a courtesy and farewell call paid by H.E. Buakeo Phumvongsay, Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Cambodia, whose diplomatic mission has come to an end. The meeting took place at the Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.
During the meeting, Samdech Techo highly valued the ambassador’s diplomatic mission in Cambodia, noting that his efforts had contributed significantly to further strengthening and expanding relations between the two neighbouring countries.
For his part, H.E. Buakeo Phumvongsay described Cambodia as his “second home,” noting that during his four-year tenure as Lao ambassador to Cambodia, he had built many fond memories with the Cambodian people and the country.
The outgoing Lao Ambassador also highlighted the progress made in bilateral relations during his term, emphasising the enhancement of cooperation and the continued exchange of high-level visits between leaders of the two countries.
Samdech Techo expressed his satisfaction with the strong and friendly relations between Cambodia and Laos and welcomed the ambassador’s remarks, particularly regarding the role of leadership visits in strengthening bilateral ties. He reiterated his call for both countries to further intensify efforts to expand cooperation in trade, investment, economic development, and political relations, in accordance with the close and enduring friendship between Cambodia and Laos.
