The Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Cults and Religion signed on Jan. 27 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalising a strategic partnership to enhance cooperation and shared commitment toward the development of religious tourism.
The MoU was inked by Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak and H.E. Chay Borin, Minister of Cults and Religion, with the participation of 130 senior officials and representatives from both institutions attended the event at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters.
The Ministry of Tourism stated that the agreement reflects a spirit of close cooperation aimed at expanding the promotion of Cambodia’s religious tourism potential.
Key objectives include increasing tourist arrivals through the diversification of religious events, organising hospitality and tour guide training for the religious sector, and improving infrastructure to support religious tourism products.
H.E Huot Hak stated that Cambodia’s foundation is rooted in culture, history, and religion, noting that religion is a core pillar for maintaining peace and social harmony.
The MoU affirms a shared vision to promote religious and cultural tourism guided by principles of resilience, sustainability, and inclusiveness, he said.
“Through this cooperation, religious heritage will be transformed into an engine for economic and social development,” underlined H.E. Minister.
