Labour Ministry, UNDP Review Strategic Initiatives

H.E. Heng Sour, Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, received here on Mar. 3 a courtesy call from Mr. Enrico Gaveglia, UNDP Resident Representative to Cambodia, to review progress on two key strategic initiatives.

In the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to improving transparency in Cambodia’s pension fund management, with a focus on sustainable investment for workers.

H.E. Minister expressed his deep appreciation to the UNDP for its robust cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia across various sectors, specifically highlighting labour, social security, and vocational training as top priorities.

He also updated the UNDP representative on the expanding scope of Cambodia’s social security schemes and emphasised the need for extreme caution and precision in managing these funds.

For his part, Mr. Enrico Gaveglia highly valued the clear vision of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry.

Through its global network of policy experts, the UNDP stands ready to provide technical support and design modern financial instruments to connect national resources with safe, reliable investment options, he said.

Both sides also committed to using advanced technology to improve oversight of financial systems and to conducting studies on safe investment options in line with international best practices.
