H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), together with H.E. Kim Chang Yong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Cambodia, co-chaired the 3rd Cambodia-Republic of Korea Public-Private Sector Dialogue held on April 8 in Phnom Penh.
This significant dialogue was attended by H.E. Minister of Mines and Energy and Third Vice Chairman of the CDC, senior representatives from relevant ministries and institutions, top management team from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and numerous representatives from the Korean business associations and private sector.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to the Korean delegation and reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s firm commitment, under the wise leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in recognizing the private sector as the engine of economic growth.
He emphasised that this dialogue is not merely a discussion forum but a practical working mechanism to find collective solutions to priority cases, aimed at facilitating and enhancing flexibility for Korean businesses in Cambodia to reach another level of excellence.
The dialogue took place in a cordial atmosphere of high mutual understanding, focusing on addressing the concerns of Korean investors.
The objective was to contribute to the enhancement of the investment climate and business environment in Cambodia, as well as to strengthen and expand the presence of Korean enterprises to further invest in Cambodian territory.
H.E. Kim Chang Yong expressed great pleasure in co-chairing this 3rd dialogue with a shared goodwill to review and discuss appropriate solutions for the challenges raised by Korean investors.
He took this opportunity to highly commend the organisation of the 1st Public-Private Sector Breakfast Briefing hosted by the CDC on April 2, notiing that this forum provided a valuable opportunity for both sectors to engage in deep, candid, and informal discussions regarding practical challenges.
Furthermore, H.E. Ambassador expressed sincere appreciation to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its effective efforts in suppressing and clearing online scams, which is a crucial factor in promoting economic and digital security.
Amidst the regional and global uncertainties, both parties agreed that both the public and private sectors must maintain high flexibility and maintain the closest cooperation to transform challenges into opportunities.
This joint commitment stands as a strong testament to driving Cambodia-Korea economic relations to a new height that yields sustainable mutual benefits.
The 3rd dialogue concluded in a joyful atmosphere with fruitful results, serving as a testament to the strength of the strategic partnership between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea.
The outcome of this dialogue clearly demonstrates the Royal Government of Cambodia’s high level of attention toward ensuring the success of foreign investors, particularly Korean investors.
Through the mechanism of direct and candid dialogue and close cooperation between the state and the private sector, Cambodia expects to receive even greater investment flows from the Republic of Korea, which will significantly contribute to Cambodia’s socio-economic development in line with the Royal Government’s Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1.
