Acting Head of State of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has reaffirmed Cambodia’s enduring and unchangeable relations with China.
The reaffirmation was made during a courtesy call by H.E. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace this morning, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate.
H.E. Wang Yi is visiting Cambodia following his co-chairmanship of the First Meeting of the “2+2” Strategic Dialogue between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and National Defence of Cambodia and China, held in Phnom Penh on April 22.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed H.E. Wang Yi, describing him as a long-standing friend of Cambodia with whom he has worked closely for many years.
The Acting Head of State noted that the visit and the inaugural “2+2” Strategic Dialogue clearly demonstrated the strong and close friendship between Cambodia and China.
“Samdech Acting Head of State emphasised that no matter how the world changes, the friendly relations between Cambodia and China remain unchanged,” the spokesperson underlined.
For his part, H.E. Wang Yi expressed his pleasure at meeting Samdech Techo again and conveyed greetings from Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping.
He also expressed China’s concern for the health of His Majesty the King of Cambodia, stressing that the Chinese government attaches great importance to His Majesty’s well-being.
At the same time, H.E. Wang Yi praised Samdech Techo Hun Sen as a key figure in strengthening Cambodia-China friendship.
He said the “iron-clad” friendship between the two countries has been built through the efforts of Samdech Techo and continues to grow under the leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.
H.E. Wang Yi also briefed Samdech Techo on the outcomes of the First Meeting of the “2+2” Strategic Dialogue, noting that the discussions had produced positive results in further strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
