Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People’s Party, held talks with H.E. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the afternoon of June 25.
According to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith, H.E. Zhao Leji warmly welcomed Samdech Techo and the high-level Cambodian delegation during their visit to China, describing Cambodia and China as old friends and “ironclad friends” that have consistently supported each other.
H.E. Zhao recalled President Xi Jinping’s visit to Cambodia last year, saying it had further strengthened the traditional friendship between the two countries and promoted the building of an “All-Weather Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.”
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the enduring strength of Cambodia-China relations. He stressed that although the world and climate continue to change, the friendship between Cambodia and China remains steadfast.
The Senate President highlighted the close ties between the two countries at the executive, party, and legislative levels, expressing his wish to see the legislative institutions of both nations play a more active role in advancing bilateral relations and supporting cooperation between the governments and ruling parties.
In response, H.E. Zhao Leji welcomed Samdech Techo’s remarks and emphasised that the Cambodia-China relationship is built on mutual trust and cannot be undermined by any external force.
He also called for deeper cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, expressing hope for closer parliamentary exchanges to contribute to the development of the “All-Weather Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.”
Samdech Techo Hun Sen arrived in Beijing on Thursday for a three-day official goodwill visit at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.
