Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has inspected flood situation in parts of Battambang and Banteay Meanchey provinces, stressing that saving people’s lives remains the top priority of the Royal Government.
In a message issued on Sept. 29, Samdech Thipadei expressed his sincere appreciation and recognition to provincial and district authorities, relevant armed forces, volunteers and other responders for their efforts to assist residents affected by flooding.
Samdech Thipadei praised the rescue teams for responding quickly and evacuating affected residents to safe areas in the two provinces, as well as in other parts of the country hit by floods.
The Prime Minister also thanked national-level working groups assigned to assist provinces, the National Committee for Disaster Management, and relevant ministries and institutions for providing support to the flood response and helping people during the difficult situation.
The message highlighted the importance of timely coordination among local authorities, security forces, volunteers and national institutions in protecting residents and responding to natural disasters.
The floods have affected 39 cities and districts across Kratie, Thbong Khmum, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Battambang, Pailin, Pursat, Preah Vihear, Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey provinces.
As of Sept. 28, the flash floods have affected some 44,800 families, forcing around 3,600 families to evacuate.
The Royal Government has continued to emphasise the protection of people’s lives and the provision of timely assistance as key priorities in responding to the ongoing flood situation.
