Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this morning announced three priority provinces and capital for the newly-arrived AstraZeneca vaccine, including Kandal, Preah Sihanouk, and Phnom Penh.
At a press conference held here at Calmette hospital this morning, after getting his first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, the Premier asked the Ministry of Health to prepare for the vaccination of local officers and the general public aged over 60 years old in the three priority provinces and capital which are now affected seriously by the pandemic.
About 100,000 to 130,000 people in Phnom Penh capital, and Kandal and Preah Sihanouk provinces or 200,000 to 260,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine are expected to be used, he added.
According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the vaccine administration in Cambodia will be done step by step, and by age groups, i.e. those aged younger than 60 years old will get Sinopharm vaccine, while those aged 60 years and older will receive AstraZeneca vaccine.
