National Centre for Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation in Preah Sihanouk Province Inaugurated


National Centre for Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation in Preah Sihanouk province has been officially inaugurated.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Gen. Ke Kim Yan, Chairman of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD).

Thai Ambassadors to Cambodia H.E. Panyarak Poolthup and Vietnamese Ambassadors to Cambodia H.E. Nguyen Huy Tang also joined the event.

The construction of the centre began on Aug. 10, 2017 and finished on Dec. 26, 2021, according to Gen. Chuon Sovann, President of the National Centre Construction Committee.

The centre infrastructure includes asphalt roads, 21 buildings and basketball, football and volleyball courts and cost about US$7 million, he added.

The centre reflected the Royal Government of Cambodia’s effort in law enforcement for drug control, treatment and rehabilitation guided by the national plan 2019-2023, underlined H.E. Vong Sauth, Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation.

H.E. Ke Kim Yan spoke highly of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation for the achievement, and encouraged the best use of the new centre.

He also thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng, donators and Thai and Vietnamese sides for their contribution to the construction of the centre.
