Cambodia Encourages Direct Flights Reconnection with Japan

Cambodia has urged Japan’s ANA to reconnect direct Phnom Penh-Tokyo flights after the postponement caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, made the request during a farewell meeting with outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Mikami Masahiro here in Phnom Penh on Nov. 29.

H.E. Thong Khon spoke highly of the good cooperation between Cambodia and Japan, especially Japan’s contribution to Cambodia’s development in all sectors including tourism.

H.E. Mikami Masahiro pledged to bring the request for discussions with concerned parties, including the private sector.

He was also committed to continue strengthening and expanding the good cooperation with Cambodia although he had completed his diplomatic mission in the Kingdom.

During the first ten months of 2022, Cambodia welcomed more than 19,000 Japanese visitors, while over 7,000 Cambodian tourists travelled to Japan.
