Cambodian PM: Ukraine Cannot Get Back Russian-occupied Territories by Forces

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has once again given his insights over the Russia-Ukraine War, reiterating that war cannot be ended by war.

Addressing to a get-together with some 18,000 garment and textile workers in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he didn’t believe that Ukraine can get  back Russian-occupied territories by force.

“Now, let’s talk a little bit. Ukraine is starting to fight back against Russia’s occupation, but I have no faith that Ukraine can make it,” he said.

The Cambodian Premier also said that he had already raised this point to the Ukrainian President during their recent video call, repeating that dialogue should be the main point to settle the war.

“I don’t believe that war can be used to end war. I don’t think Russia is willing to give up Crimea and Donbass to Ukraine. I don’t believe that even if the U.S. and the Western nations have provided weapons to Ukraine, it is still impossible,” he stressed.

The Russia-Ukraine war has started since Feb. 24, 2022. Cambodia has opposed the Russian invasion on Ukraine, but at the same time did not support the sanction against Russia. Cambodia has always called on all sides to end the war by peaceful and negotiation means.
