SPM Hun Sen Inspires Local Farmers to Plant Most Profitable Crops

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has encouraged local farmers to plant the most profitable industrial crops like cashew nut, banana, and mango.

The Premier made the inspiration while holding a get-together with nearly 20,000 factory workers and employees from six factories and enterprises at Cheung Prey district, Kampong Cham province this morning.

In this context, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said with its rich agricultural products, Cambodia needs more investment to turn its agriculture into an agro-industry and agribusiness.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister appreciated the plantations for transforming Cambodia into a green country.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen was also optimistic that Cambodia would become the “king of cashew nut” in the future, pointing out that in early this year only, the Kingdom produced up to 1.18 million tonnes of cashew nuts surpassing the Ivory Coast which could produce only 1.1 million tonnes.

On June 14, Cambodia launched the “National Cashew Policy 2022-2027” aiming to develop cashew production, processing, and marketing to be more competitive to ensure sustainability and economic diversification, and to transform Cambodia into an important producer and supplier of cashew nuts for local, regional and global markets in the near future.
