Cambodian PM’s Facebook Account with Over 14 Million Likes and Followers Deleted

The official Facebook account of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen with more than 14 million Likes and Followers has been removed after he asked Facebook to do so and announced to use his official Telegram channel instead.

At a get-together with nearly 7,000 factory workers and employees in Pursat province this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen mentioned about the practical use of Telegram, stressing that with Telegram, there is no worry of being hacked while comments and replies can be allowed as in Facebook.

“I respect Facebook’s principles. But Facebook overlooks some issues, which goes against its principles. […] Do not mix technical with political issues […] and misuse the Facebook principles,” he said.

In a Telegram message last night, the Premier explained that he stopped using his Facebook account because there are over 20 fake accounts using his name. “From now on, the Facebook accounts under Hun Sen’s name is all fake,” he underlined.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen asked for understanding from his Facebook followers and called them to refer to
his Telegram channel to get quick and direct information from him.

The Prime Minister also recalled the creation of his TikTok account which now has 26K Followers and 58.2K Likes.
