Cambodia, China Define 2024 as the Year of People-to-People Exchange


The Cambodian and Chinese top leaders have agreed to define 2024 as the year of people-to-people exchange to promote tourism and connectivity between the two countries.

The agreement was made during the bilateral meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his Chinese counterpart H.E. Li Qiang in Beijing, China this afternoon, on the sidelines of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

H.E. Li Qiang highlighted the achievements of good cooperation between the two countries on various projects, especially the launch of commercial operations of the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport in Siem Reap province on Oct. 16, 2023, as well as the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) related to a number of projects within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his satisfaction with the signing of eight cooperation documents which will boost the bilateral cooperation between both nations.

The Cambodian Premier thanked the Chinese side for the warm welcome and expressed his pleasure to meet with H.E. Li Qiang for the third time in just a few months.

Samdech Thipadei also extended his condolences over the loss of four Chinese people in Israel.

Besides, the two leaders discussed the direction of cooperation in other areas, including investment, agriculture, trade, education, sports, defence, health and physical infrastructure construction within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
