Cambodia explores more cooperation on the environment with potential partners, especially on carbon trading in the country.
H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, made the effort on the side-lines of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate (UAE), from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12.
He began by promoting the ambitions of Cambodia in a meeting with the representative of C-Quest Capital of Singapore there.
H.E. Eang Sophalleth also held separate meetings with ADB Director General for Southeast Asia Mr. Winfried Wicklein, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Conservation International (CI) Ms. Patricia Zurita, and President of the Secretariat of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Ms. Juliette Biao.
The meeting discussed deeper cooperation on the environment and natural resource conservation in line with the ministry’s Circular Strategy 2023–2028.
H.E. Eang Sophalleth underlined the government’s priorities and green investment, the ministry’s policy of increasing 60 percent of forest cover and improving the community’s living standards, and beyond.
