Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has called on the Ministry of Cults and Religious Affairs to take measures against inappropriate religious acts, including on social media.
He urged action when addressing an annual meeting of the Ministry of Environment here this afternoon.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet suggested the Ministry of Cults and Religious Affairs consult with all religious leaders, including Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity, to investigate cases of individuals using religion for their personal gain, misleading the public.
“We respect the right and freedom of religion, but all must be under the law and core values of those religions,” he underlined.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the public can choose to follow any religion with core values, no matter how big or small they are.
He encouraged all religious followers not to intrude on or violate any others of different beliefs, but to work and live in harmony together.
