Carbon Investment Encouraged for Clean Soil, Water and Air

The Ministry of Environment has encouraged companies and development partners to contribute to carbon investment in Cambodia for clean soil, water, and air.

H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, made the remarks when receiving Mr. Hoang Anh Dung, CEO of Investment and Trading Consulting Company Limited (INTRACO Holding) of Vietnam, in Phnom Penh on Mar. 26.

H.E. Eang Sophalleth said Cambodia is willing to distribute dividends to all stakeholders contributing to carbon trade, including firms from Japan, Singapore, and Vietnam.

Mr. Hoang Anh Dung informed the minister of the firm’s intention to support the ministry’s priorities through the provision of water filters and eco-friendly stoves to the underprivileged in remote areas.

This will contribute to increasingly warming the earth through clean energy use and reduction of emissions to the atmosphere, he added.

H.E. Eang Sophalleth supported the Vietnamese firm’s intention and briefed its delegation about the ministry’s strategy to boost carbon trade by 41.7 percent by 2030, in line with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
