AIIB to Expand Cooperation with Cambodia in Potential Sectors


Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet received a courtesy call from Mr. Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), in Tokyo this morning during his official working visit to Japan from May 28 to 31.

During the meeting, Mr. Jin commended Cambodia’s rapid development and expressed confidence that, under the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei, the Cambodian economy will remain resilient and continue to experience strong growth.

The AIIB President also thanked Cambodia for its role as a founding member of the bank since 2016. He outlined the AIIB’s mission and operations, expressing keen interest in expanding cooperation with Cambodia in several priority sectors, including energy, urban development, and connectivity.

He affirmed the AIIB’s readiness to support Cambodia, particularly in infrastructure development, to help foster the country’s resilient and sustainable growth.

In response, Samdech Thipadei welcomed the AIIB’s interest and reiterated the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to fostering inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economic development. He emphasised the government’s dedication to building new achievements for the nation and its people.

Samdech Thipadei also reaffirmed Cambodia’s openness to cooperation with all partners to advance the country’s socio-economic progress. He encouraged the AIIB to deepen its engagement by holding detailed discussions with relevant ministries and institutions, especially the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to identify concrete opportunities for strengthening and expanding cooperation.
