President of the Cambodian Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has described the current border tension between Cambodia and Thailand as a “lose-lose situation,” but stressed that Cambodia has no choice in the matter.
“It is a lose-lose situation, but what can we do? It’s not Cambodia’s problem,” he said while addressing students and teachers at the Kamchay Mear Education and Training Centre in Prey Veng province.
“I have suggested to the Prime Minister that we shouldn’t be concerned about whether the border is closed or the opening hours are changed. What we want is a return to normalcy — as it was before June 7, 2025. That’s all. There’s no need to negotiate anything,” he emphasised.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen added that there is no need for Thailand to tell Cambodia what to do. “They should tell their own people. If all border gates operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. as usual, Cambodia will follow,” he stated.
