Despite diplomatic dialogue being scheduled to take place this afternoon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Thai forces have continued their attacks on Cambodian troops and civilians, said H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, during a press briefing at noon today.
“At this moment, as I am standing here, Thai forces are launching fierce attacks against Cambodia. However, our brave forces continue to stand strong, defending our sovereignty and territorial integrity with unwavering courage,” she stated.
The spokesperson also noted that the Thai military has recently restructured some of its command positions along the border with Cambodia, and that certain Thai media outlets have begun blocking access to Cambodian readers.
While the press briefing was underway, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet was leading a high-level delegation to Kuala Lumpur for a special meeting aimed at securing an immediate ceasefire with Thailand.
The purpose of this meeting is to achieve an immediate ceasefire, which was initiated by President Donald Trump and agreed to by both Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand.
