Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, is leading a high-level delegation of Cambodian parliament to attend the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament scheduled to be held on July 28 in Switzerland.
The Cambodian delegation arrived in Geneva yesterday and was warmly welcomed upon arrival by Cambodian Ambassador to Switzerland, embassy staff, and Cambodian citizens living in the country.
During the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, held under the theme “Leadership for Inclusive and Lasting Peace,” the Cambodian NA President will take part in key discussions, including “The Women, Peace and Security Agenda After 25 Years” and “Emerging Challenges to Inclusive and Lasting Peace.”
After that, from July 29 to 31, Samdech Khuon Sudary will attend the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, where she will speak during the General Debate on the theme “A World in Turmoil: Parliamentary Cooperation and Multilateralism for Peace, Justice, and Prosperity for All.”
During her stay in Geneva, Samdech Khuon Sudary is also expected to hold sideline meetings with heads of the delegations from the parliaments of Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, the Republic of Korea, and Israel, as well as the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Samdech Khuon Sudary’s participation in these global events shows Cambodia’s strong commitment to international cooperation, promoting women’s leadership, and building peace and sustainable development.
These meetings bring together 100 Speakers and 36 Deputy Speakers of Parliaments from about 130 countries around the world to exchange views and best practices on advancing gender equality, promoting inclusive leadership, and building sustainable peace.
The accompanying delegation includes H.E. Mrs. Lork Kheng, Chairwoman of the NA’s 8th Commission; H.E. Mrs. Chan Sotheavy, Chairwoman of the Senate’s 6th Commission; H.E. Dr. Keo Piseth, Chief of the Cabinet of the NA President; H.E. Khuon Davith, Deputy Secretary-General of the NA; and H.E. Dr. Chheang Vannarith, Chairman of the NA’s Advisory Council.
