Korean and Muslim Tourists Expected to Visit Cambodia in Greater Numbers

The number of Korean and Muslim tourists visiting Cambodia is expected to rise through joint cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and the Royal Embassies of Cambodia in the Republic of Korea and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The update was shared during a meeting held in Phnom Penh late last week between Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak, H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak, Ambassador of Cambodia to the Republic of Korea, and H.E. Som Visal, Ambassador of Cambodia to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Morocco, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the African Union, and Oman, based in Cairo.

According to the ministry, the meeting aimed to seek high-level recommendations on promoting Cambodia’s tourism potential and investment opportunities in the tourism sector, as well as to gather key information on the National Tourism Plan and relevant tourism statistics.

On the occasion, H.E. Minister Huot Hak expressed his deep gratitude to H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, for his continued support to the Ministry of Tourism in promoting Cambodia’s tourism potential worldwide through embassies, permanent missions, and consulates.

The minister also requested the two ambassadors, who will soon depart for their respective diplomatic missions abroad, to further promote Cambodia’s tourism potential and growing investment opportunities, particularly by highlighting the Kingdom’s peace, security, and tourist safety. He further urged them to actively help combat fake news that undermines Cambodia’s reputation and tourism industry.
