The Thai military has fired toxic gas into O’Beichoan commune, O’Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, an area of civilian residences.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of National Defence this afternoon, the attack occurred at 2:22 p.m.
“The above brutal actions constitute an indiscriminate attack by the Thai military and a serious violation of international humanitarian law,” the Ministry stressed.
Since Dec. 7, the Thai military has renewed its attacks on Cambodian territory and expanded operations across multiple locations in Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Battambang, and Pursat provinces. These operations have involved the use of heavy weapons, F-16 fighter jets, and toxic gas, resulting in civilian casualties, damage to homes, temples and health centres, the closure of hundreds of schools, and the displacement of thousands of civilians along the border. Cambodia has no choice but to counterattack in self-defence against military operations that violate its territorial integrity, after exercising more than 24 hours of utmost restraint.
