Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak has urged Cambodian tourism operators and tourism communities to adopt digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in a “Smart, Safe and Warm” manner to improve service quality, enhance tourist experiences and strengthen the competitiveness of Cambodia’s tourism sector amid global digital transformation.
He made the remarks at the celebration of World Tourism Day 2026 under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” organised by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the UN Tourism at Bayon Era Hotel in Siem Reap province on Sept. 27.
On the occasion, H.E. Huot Hak officially launched the “ASEAN Hygiene and Safety Measures for Tourism Industry Operators and Communities” and encouraged the implementation of the “ASEAN Safe and Warm Stamp,” a regional mechanism aimed at promoting quality, safety, hygiene and tourism service standards among ASEAN Member States.
The Minister said the theme of World Tourism Day 2026 is important and in line with global trends, as digital technology and AI are becoming key drivers in transforming the tourism sector.
He underlined that the adoption of these modern technologies would support policymaking, tourism product development, marketing and data-driven decision-making, thereby improving the efficiency and competitiveness of Cambodia’s tourism sector.
H.E. Huot Hak added that Cambodia is promoting digital connectivity, joint tourism promotion and experience sharing with countries in the region to improve service quality and ensure that the tourism sector can respond to the evolving needs of international tourists.
World Tourism Day 2026 aims to raise awareness of the role of digital technology and AI in building a resilient, inclusive and sustainable tourism sector for communities and the global economy.
