Cambodia Speaks Highly of APPF’s Achievements and Active Role in Maintaining Regional Peace and Stability


Cambodia’s National Assembly (NA) is proud of and satisfied with the APPF’s achievements in the past 27 years and its key roles in maintaining peace and stability in the region with the focus on issues of politics, peace, security, stability, economy, society, environment, democracy, human rights, education, culture and development.

The remarks were made by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the Cambodian NA and President of the 27th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-27), while hosting an official dinner reception in honour of APPF-27’s delegates in Siem Reap provincial city yesterday evening.

“The gathering does not only show the continuation of strengthening the ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the legislative bodies of our Asia-Pacific region, but also provides an opportunity to tell the world about the significant role of APPF in sharing the value of wisdom and common goal in building the Asia-Pacific into a region of peace, stability, progress and harmony,” stressed Samdech Heng Samrin.

The NA president continued that Cambodia is proud for gaining trust and support from APPF member countries, observer countries and partner organisations in hosting the APPF-27, and hopes that the APPF-27 will be crowned with success thanks to active participation of all APPF’s delegates.

Samdech Heng Samrin also thanked all members of APPF Executive Committee for their active participation in the discussion and approval of the agendas and programmes of APPF-27, especially in the support of the Parliament of Australia to host the next APPF Annual Meeting after Cambodia.

Cambodia is hosting the APPF-27 in Siem Reap from Jan. 14 to 17, under the theme “Strengthening Parliamentary Partnership for Peace, Security, and Sustainable Development.”
