Renovated parts of National Road 55 that stretches for 180 kilometres with nine metres wide will be put into use in a near future after 42 months of rehabilitation.
As said in a news release of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the renovation cost US$132.80 million – a co-financing by the Royal Government of Cambodia’s budget and the loan from China.
The newly rehabilitated parts of the road link Pursat province to Cambodia-Thailand border checkpoint Thmar Da.
The rehabilitation was carried out by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) with technical support from Guangzhou Wanna Construction Supervision Co., Ltd.
Once put for public use, the road will ease transportation and travel, particularly contribute vitally to developing agriculture, cross-border trade and investment, and tourism at the border area between Cambodia and Thailand.
