Cambodian Agriculture Minister Attends 41st AMAF Meeting in Brunei


Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon attended the 41st Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam early this week.

The ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry agreed to promote trade facilitation and market access of agriculture and forestry products in the region following the signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on ASEAN Cooperation in Agriculture and Forest Products Promotion Scheme (2019-2024).

According to Xinhua, the ASEAN Ministers agreed to continue enhancing trade facilitation, enhancing economic integration and market access, and take into consideration that agriculture remain as important aspects of the ASEAN economy with particular significant impact on income enhancement and poverty alleviation.

They also recognised the importance of liberalising the agriculture and forestry sectors and transforming these sectors from production-push approach to market-oriented approach.
