Cambodian PM Orders to Shoot Unknown Drones Down

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has ordered competent authorities to deploy forces and weapons to provinces at the border with Vietnam to take down unknown drones flying into the Cambodian territory.

The order was made known by the Premier in a special voice message released this morning on his official Telegram channel.

“I’ve just ordered H.E. Gen. Hing Bun Heang (Commander of the Prime Minister’s Bodyguard Unit) to immediately deploy 500 troops and at least 200 weapons to shoot down those drones,” he said.

According to the Cambodian Prime Minister, many drones have successively flown into the Cambodian territory in Rattanakiri province. The Vietnamese side denied that they are not theirs. After continuous evaluation, he estimated that those drones would belong to the group who attacked Vietnam about two weeks ago.

“There is neither tolerance nor exception for those who violate Cambodian sovereignty,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined.

The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Cambodia’s good cooperation with Vietnam to control the situation, especially in tightening the border crossings, after the attacks in Vietnam, resulting in stability in the two countries.

On June 11, 2023, a rebel group attacked two Vietnamese communes and killed Vietnamese local officials, police officers and people.
