The President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King of Cambodia supports the Khmer Writers Association (KWA) and encourages it to help improve the accuracy of stories published on social media.

The president, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, shared his note when receiving a KWA delegation led by a Cambodian prominent writer, H.E. Chey Chap at the 7 January Palace in Phnom Penh on Nov. 20.

Samdech Techo acknowledged the role of KWA in shaping social education and encouraged the association to further build the capacity of its members to eventually expand its reputation.

He also suggested the writers association find ways to improve the accuracy of stories published through social media platforms, including TikTok.

H.E. Chey Chap thanked Samdech Techo for the meeting and advice.

According to KWA President H.E. Proeung Pranit, the association has been gathering writers to document the achievements of the Royal Government of Cambodia and will organise an annual writing competition for the “January 7 Peace Prize” to promote the country’s writers.

The association also plans to bring together writers from countries along the Mekong River for discussions on research and writing cooperation within the region.
