Cambodian PM Meets Legislative Leaders of Malaysia


Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, paid separate courtesy calls on H.E. YB Senator Datuk Mutang Tagal, President of the Senate of Malaysia, and Honourable Tan Sri Dato’ Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur on Feb. 27 afternoon, as part of his day-long official visit to Malaysia.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet briefed the two Malaysian legislative leaders on the outcome of his bilateral talks with his Malaysian counterpart H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and informed them of the 5th Senate Election in Cambodia last Sunday.

The Cambodian Premier spoke highly of the cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia, which contributes to the economic growth in Cambodia, and thanked Malaysia for the valuable contribution of her peacekeepers in the peace-building process in Cambodia in the early 1990s as well as for the scholarships granted to Cambodian students.

For their part, H.E. Datuk Mutang Tagal and Honourable Tan Sri Dato’ Johari bin Abdul praised the rapid progress and high economic growth of Cambodia, reflected in the construction of many physical infrastructure, including the newly inaugurated Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport.

In response to H.E. Datuk Mutang Tagal’s request, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet shared some of the key concepts and experience on Cambodia’s development and economic growth maintenance.

The most important factors are peace and political stability, which must be guaranteed and maintained sustainably and it is an indispensable foundation for development in all areas, he underlined, adding that for the Cambodian context, complete peace and national unity and territorial unity are the result of the Win-Win policy of the former Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

Besides, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked Honourable Tan Sri Dato’ Johari bin Abdul for coming to Cambodia to observe the 7th National Election in July 2023.
