Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet met with H.E. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, this morning in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
Both leaders expressed their pleasure at the opportunity to hold another bilateral meeting, reaffirming the close and productive relationship between their nations.
H.E. Li Qiang highlighted that the frequent high-level exchanges between Cambodia and China reflect the strength and continued growth of their long-standing, “iron-clad” friendship.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasised the importance of leadership-level dialogue in strengthening bilateral ties and expressed his deep appreciation for the recent state visit of H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, to Cambodia in April. He noted that the visit further solidified and expanded the Cambodia-China partnership.
The two leaders praised the progress of bilateral relations, particularly the recent upgrade to a “China-Cambodia all-weather community with a shared future in the new era.” They agreed to continue advancing cooperation by turning plans into concrete actions.
In particular, both sides agreed to boost collaboration in key sectors such as economy, trade, investment, national defence and security, education, technology, industry, and agriculture. Special focus was placed on advancing the “Industrial Development Corridor” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor” as flagship initiatives.
Additionally, the two leaders committed to enhancing people-to-people exchanges and tourism, as well as expanding direct flight routes between Cambodia and China.
