On Monday 11 February 2019, H.E Veng Sakhorn, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, allowed Dr. Choi Hui Jae, General Manager, Performance Management Department of Korea Land and Geospatial Informatics Corporation, to pay his courtesy visit, prior to the meeting about Spatial Information System for Cambodia Agricultural Land Management (SIS-CALM).
Dr. Choi confirmed that through this project MOFAA will be easier to manage land resources,water use, crop planning, and determine the cultivated area, predictability of agricultural products, disaster management, and preventing the spread of crop destruction of pestle composition and planning for agricultural development. H.E Minister expressed his great pleasure of seeing the Korean side formulate this project in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Information Technology between the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia and the General Department of Land Resource Management Of the Republic of Korea in 2016. The Minister also confirmed that the project is in response to the need of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, which is updating the agriculture sector to contribute to increasing agricultural productivity, diversification and trade in accordance with the 2018-2023 agricultural development policy.
Finally, H.E Minister expresses his strong support and encourages the relevant departments to continue their good cooperation so that the project can be successfully implemented and budgeted for soon.
