Cambodia, Indonesia To Resume Direct Flight

Cambodia and Indonesia will resume their direct flight by the end of June, after almost 50 years of interruption, according to a recent press conference here at the Ministry of Tourism.

The direct flight, between Jakarta and Phnom Penh, will be operated by CITILINK Airlines three times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, said Mr. Heriyanto, Vice President of the Indonesian airline.

If the Jakarta-Phnom Penh flight goes well, CITILINK Airlines will extend its services to other important tourist attractions of Cambodia such as the cultural province of Siem Reap and the coastal province of Preah Sihanouk.

H.E. Thong Khon, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, expressed his optimism over the increased number of Indonesian tourists to Cambodia through this direct air link.

For its part, Lao Airlines, the national carrier of Laos, will launch a direct flight to Cambodia next October, followed by more linkages to key spots of the Kingdom, including Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong.
