Justice Ministry’s Spokesperson: Law on Management of Nation in Emergencies Used Only after State of Emergency Declared

“It doesn’t mean that the country declares the state of emergency after the Law on the Management of the Nation in Emergencies was promulgated,” underlined this morning H.E. Kim Santepheap, Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Justice.

“The King shall make a proclamation to the people putting the country in a state of emergency after agreement with the Prime Minister and the President of the National Assembly and President of the Senate in accordance with the new Article 22 of the Constitution,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

Overall, he added, the Law on the Management of the Nation in Emergencies will be implemented after the state of emergency was declared.

The five-chapter of twelve-article Draft Law on the Management of the Nation in Emergencies will be reviewed by the Senate in an extraordinary session to be held tomorrow, after it was approved by the National Assembly on April 10
