Samdech Heng Samrin Urges Executive Body to Examine Petroleum Management Draft Law Thoroughly


Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA), has urged the executive body to conduct detailed and comprehensive study and analysis of the Draft Law on Petroleum Management, to ensure the environmental friendliness and high benefit for society of the oil sector.

Samdech Heng Samrin made the encouragement while presiding over here yesterday the opening ceremony of a workshop on Draft Law on Petroleum Management, co-organised by the NA Commission on Public Works, Transports, Telecommunications, Posts, Industry, Mines, Energy, Commerce, Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, and the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Samdech Heng Samrin laid stress on the significance of the draft law in the expansion of economic growth base through boosting the development of oil, gas and mine resources to turn this sector into a new and key source for the Cambodian economic development in order to achieve the country’s ambition of becoming an upper middle-income economy by 2030 and a high-income nation by 2050.

Samdech President of NA also called for high attention to any possible risks derived from the investment in this sector, underlining that thorough and comprehensive consideration is necessary to avoid any negative impacts from this sector.

According to H.E. Ms. Nin Saphon, Chairwoman of the NA Commission on Public Works, Transports, Telecommunications, Posts, Industry, Mines, Energy, Commerce, Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, the Draft Law on Petroleum Management is composed of nine chapters and 72 articles with one annexe.
