Ensuring Fair Share Among Vulnerable and Marginalised Women and Girls

Ministry of Women’s Affairs is leading the development of a gender assessment’s section on vulnerable and marginalised groups of women and girls to ensure their entitlement to a fair share of Cambodia’s development.

The ministry’s legal protection team convened a consultation of the document recently with more than 40 representatives from concerned government’s bodies, development partners and civil society organisations at Cambodiana Hotel here in Phnom Penh.

The consultation was made possible through a cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

According to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the assessment section – once ready – will be a helpful guidance for all gender equality promotion stakeholders, especially when developing policies, planning and development interventions, to ensure the inclusion of vulnerable and marginalised girls and women.

The consultation of the document was resulted in productive discussion and inputs for the ministry’s technical team to finalise the gender assessment’s section on vulnerable and marginalised groups of women and girls.
